Job title:  Temporary — Development, Marketing & Events Specialist.  Position not to exceed 6 months.

Compensation:  Annualized – $77,000.00

Job Status:  Temporary, exempt

Mission Housing Development Corporation is a private non-profit housing developer founded in 1971. Mission Housing develops high-quality, well-managed, affordable, sustainable communities that promote the self-sufficiency of low and moderate income families, seniors, and persons with diverse needs and offers technical assistance to service providers to help them develop affordable housing that meets the needs of special populations with a comprehensive vision of community. We own approximately 49 affordable housing buildings serving over 3,300 residents with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in San Francisco’s Mission District.

SUMMARY

The position will have responsibility for assisting the Communications Department in achieving its stated goals and strategic initiatives. Reporting directly to the department’s senior manager, this position will be involved in executing on key projects related to company events, development and marketing activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This position is characterized by a high degree of initiative, responsibility, accountability and ability to collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Development

  • Assists the senior manager in creating and executing Mission Housing’s plan for its development department as part of the company’s strategic plan.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on fund development matters, issues and organizational interfaces
  • Assists in implementing fundraising campaigns including donor solicitations, cultivation of prospects, planning, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Identifies prospective donors and supports efforts to maintain relationships of existing donors.
  • Create, maintain and update donor databases and establish related systems and processes.
  • Executes on goals to increase donations through direct mail, social media, electronic solicitations, appeals, and events.
  • Spearhead grant writing and all agency’s efforts to capture publicly funded service contracts and private foundation grants, in support of the agency’s mission.

Marketing

  • Supports and implements the department’s marketing initiatives to drive a stronger brand presence in the community.
  • Contributes to the development of creative marketing materials, content, collateral and online assets.
  • Collaborates within and between departments to understand marketing needs and develops innovative solutions.
  • Serves as a liaison between the department and outside contractors.
  • Manages marketing campaigns designed to increase organizational impact and visibility and to enhance business relationships.

Events Management

  • Supports the rollout of planned community events, such as new property ground-breakings and grand openings, fundraisers, housing advocacy events, press events, community and donor engagement events
  • Implements key aspects of event planning, including but not limited to supporting the budgeting process, scheduling, vendor relations, invoicing, event logistics and coordination of volunteers and/or staff.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records for each event.
  • Partners with other departments in their efforts with community outreach and engagement

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or multimedia.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising and/or event planning
  • Professional, customer-service oriented attitude and demeanor.
  • Ability to work productively and under limited supervision; to work well independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of Website Content Management, such as WordPress and e-mail campaign programs such as Mailchimp.
  • Demonstrated success managing and executing multiple priorities and projects for multiple team members based on business needs.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects from conception through completion, including tracking of resources, deadlines, budget, and all other related items.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be effective and flexible in stressful situations (i.e., unexpected problems, tight deadlines.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal.)
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, high regard for accuracy and top quality work.
  • Effective and creative problem-solver and decision-maker with strong initiative and excellent follow-through.
  • Must be able and willing to travel to all company locations to carry out duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, i.e. staff, residents, outside contacts.
  • Commitment to company goals and philosophy.
